A Little Christmas Crafting

And I do mean a little.  A serious illness in the family and some unexpected December travel cut out most of my Christmas creating time.  Which is okay; I’m glad we were able to help where we were needed.  I’ll finish the projects later, and maybe they’ll be better for the extra time.

This quilt, for example, was intended as a Christmas gift.

Quilt in Progress

My new goal is to finish by the recipient’s birthday.  Or by next Christmas.  I’m a slow quilter!

I did finish painting a wristlet for a friend.

Painted Purse

I’m already longing for spring and bright colors and flowers, as you can see.

I like how the “brushwork” is a little messy and impressionistic.  (I actually painted with a toothpick, since my brushes had mysteriously gone missing.)  I did go back and ink in a few details so it didn’t just look like blobs.

And that’s it.  This is the first year we haven’t given each child a handmade something for Christmas.  But with all their generous relatives and Santa, I don’t think they missed it.
