First Day Hike

On New Year’s Day Matthew and I pried our children away from their screens and new toys and brought them to Algonkian Regional Park for a hike along the Potomac River.

Despite some initial fussing, eventually we all had fun.

It was a beautifully warm day, which meant there was lots of nice mud to play in. Henry found “a stick to fight bad guys,” and Abigail found a shell on the riverbank.

We were all a little jealous of the people kayaking,

but somehow we managed.
